Our Swissy Fritz is always looking for a photo op and often times travels with us. On one particular Sun. we were visiting Ed Stoudt's Oktober Fest in his Bier Garden and Antique Complex outside of Adamstown Pa. Ed and his wife have a Swissy and gladly welcomed Fritz. Naturally Fritz was the life of the party as he roamed from table to table looking for left-overs and and of course the gentle rubs on his head.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr No this isn't friendly Fritz practicing Schutzhund, he's merely playing in Barbara Strawser's Garden with our good friend Mr. Fritz. Jim has know Fritz the dog since we brought him over from Switzerland and is quite proud of his namesake. Jim prefers smaller tri-coloured breeds like the Basset Hound for himself but has always admired the personality of Fritz.

Over the years we've had several Swissies but a few years ago Anne fell in love with the Leonbergers. Lizzy is about one year old in this picture and has always been Anne's "best friend". The Swissy in the picture here and below is Missy, Sallie Wheeler had asked if we wouldn't care for her, which I was in a position where we could help out. Missy was older when she came to live with us and was the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. She surely has left fond memories in our hearts.

My grandfather on my mom's side was a farmer and naturally they kept dogs back on the farm east of Kutztown. While this dog was way before my time it's my understanding this dog was one of his all time favorites. What a joy it was when we were going through old photographs and found this image of my sisters Pam and Cindy out by the barn with Rover. |
